Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to benefit our school while also making friends and connections. Parent participation reinforces to our children that school is important and that parents value what is being taught and learned.

There are many ways to get involved depending upon your interests and availability. There are activities that can be done at school or ones that can be done at home for both working parents as well as for those who may have more time.

We welcome new volunteers throughout the year and encourage all parents who are interested in volunteering to contact us to learn more.

Committee Position Descriptions

Note: some of the activities listed below may not occur every year.

Mix-and-Mingle: Have a flair for throwing parties? This is your chance to show off those skills! You will assist in organizing an exclusive adults-only event, which benefits PGMS PTSA, Robert Down ES PTA, Forest Grove ES PTA and Pacific Grove High School PTA. Connect with local businesses to gather donations for a silent auction. Additionally, develop a thematic concept for the party and coordinatethe food and beverage arrangements.

Butterfly Bazaar: This event immediately follows the Butterfly Parade at Robert Down Elementary and is a community favorite. Duties include helping PGMS sell tickets to the various carnival-style games and/or baked goods the day of the event. Coordinate signups for extra parent volunteers as well as Community Service Volunteer Hours for students. Lot’s of opportunity help make this event a success—it takes a village!

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Show your appreciation by assisting with food coordination and lunch setup for our wonderful PGMS staff and teachers.

Honors Breakfast: Students have worked hard to achieve the Honor’s List and we want to show them our appreciation for their efforts. Responsibilities include coordinating a breakfast menu, setup and service.

BookFair: PTSA sponsored literacy promotion event and fundraiser. This student favorite provides students with the opportunity to purchase books for themselves and others. Responsibilities include: Coordinating BookFair setup and arranging schedules for cashiers during this week-long event.

Rummage Sale Coordinator: It’s all about Reuse, Reduce & Recycle. Help collect donations from PGMS families who desperately need to free up space in their homes. 😆 Coordinate with volunteers to set up and sell items on the day of the sale.
